Robi Domingo explores his dramatic prowess in ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’...

Robi Domingo takes on a dramatic role in Maalaala Mo Kaya where he plays as the sympathetic brother of Gerald Anderson who has Tourette Syndrome (TS, a serious illness characterized by physical and vocal tics). Since it’s his first time to guest star on the country’s most prestigious drama anthology, he describes how different it is from his experiences in Your Song Presents Boystown (2009) and My Girl (2008). “Medyo teenybopper kasi yun. Light drama pero may halong kilig at funny scenes. But in this MMK episode, kada labas ko sa camera, sobrang bigat ng eksena,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN.com.

This true-to-life story aims to show how family members deal with the odd behavior and moods of a patient with TS. Viewers can expect to see some heartbreaking scenes which will showcase the dramatic prowess of Robi and Gerald.

Robi further shared that this brief stint gave him a chance to bond with Gerald. “Una kaming nagkakilala sa My Girl last year.

Aside from MMK, Robi is also very happy that he’s still part of the MYX family this year despite the new set of winners from the recently-concluded MYX VJ Search. As it is, he has always been worried that his one-year contract wouldn’t be renewed way before he learned about this good news. “Sobrang kinabahan ako these past few weeks. But I think I did a great job naman. You know how much I love hosting sa MYX so I’m thankful na kasama pa rin ako,” he beamed.

As for other TV projects, Robi says that given a chance, he’s willing to do a cameo role in Katorse where four of Star Magic’s young talents have bloomed into lead star material. I’ll be back in school on November 9 pa naman po so kaya namang malagay sa schedule ‘yan kung saka-sakali.” But he says that he would rather stick to his wholesome image for now than pursue daring roles like most of his fellow young stars. Pero siguro I’m better off with pang-teens muna tutal twenteen pa lang naman ako ngayon,” he grinned.
